My Travelling Bucket List

         Those who know me well, know one thing is for certain about me.. I LOVE to travel. Not even just like travel in the sense of going to Cuba and laying on a beach for a week (which at times wouldn't be half bad) I mean like, random road trips sorta deal. (I put 100,000 km on a car once in a year, and just driving local.) I'm more of a learning traveller. I'm attracted to travelling to any place that I just haven't been to before, or that holds interesting history. Ironically I haven't done much travelling too far, I've been on road trips from Nova Scotia to Ontario and back, but that's pretty much the farthest, and I was a kid. I'm the type of person that if I won the lottery, I would seriously give away everything I own, and live out of a suitcase and hotel rooms, just to travel anywhere I possibly could. And I don't even wanna see just the good things with travelling. I wanna see the good, the bad, and the ugly. (With the exception of forests filled with bugs and snakes) Haha, I'm the girl who got excited the first time I saw a hooker in real life, no joke! I literally wanna see everything the world has to offer, from a safe stand point.

          So, for those of you who read my blog (Thanks by the way!) I have made up my “Travelling Bucket List” for you :)

Okay, let's start small. I REALLY wanna see the mountains in British Columbia someday. Seriously, anyone who wouldn't wanna just be planted there for like a week and just be able to take in the beauty of the place has something wrong with them. I get mesmerized just by pictures of them. I'm a city kid, so to see something like this would be like seeing a whole new world.

Fort Erie, Ontario. Now, when I lived in Niagara Falls, we actually traveled to Fort Erie for a field trip. Old Fort Erie, was a war fort. The original was built in 1764. (You can read up on the history of it if you're interested here) While on this field trip with school, obviously for the history purposes, we learned that they actually give midnight ghost tours! Even as a kid at the time, the ghost tour idea caught my attention. I've been dying to go back and go on one. Although being able to just do an investigation of our own would be better ;)

Another place I would have died to do an investigation was Waverly Hills Sanatorium, which they used to give tours through, and a few ghost hunter teams have gotten into to do investigations. Nowadays I hear they are turning it into a hotel, So I guess I will just have to wait and rent a room ;) (Learn the history of Waverly Hills here )

 

The Northern Lights! I don't care where I have to go, or how cold it is there, I NEED to see these!!

Stonehenge: Now this is a place I'd love to see. It's an amazing site, and it makes you wonder! The rocks that make it up are MASSIVE, and there's a lot of question on how the rocks were placed there, considering when it was built there were no large equipment to lift them. There's a lot of speculation there that maybe aliens were in contact with humans waaaay back when, and some people say that's how the rocks were placed. This is also a speculation, for those of you who don't know, for the Egyptians. It is believed that Egyptians way waay back had communication with other worldly species, that's why there has been pictures of certain technologies that didn't exist at the time found in Egyptian tombs. Also there has been crop circles that have depicted what we know as Egyptian symbols. Back to Stonehenge, there have been reports of there being lights in the sky seen near the site from time to time, adding to the wonder if the speculation has some truth to it.

Norway: Now, I would love to visit Norway just for it's simple beauty. Every picture I see of it is amazing. I mean it even makes the winter time look amazing, and I HATE winter!!

OH and not to mention stuff like this has been seen in the Norway sky. Soo, yeah, I wanna see!

             Chillingham Castle(Supposedly the most haunted place on earth!!)

Poveglia Island, Italy.

Now, This one is a whole new can of worms. This place has seen so much death it is unreal. It at one time was used as a confinement station for people who had the plague, and a time after that it was used as a quarantine station, and the buildings were built into an asylum for the mentally ill or long term patients.It was more of a place of exile than a place where people got better. Then when people died in the asylum, they were burned, so story goes that a good portion of the soil on the island is made up of human ash. It is said to be extremely haunted. So much so, that the Italian government has actually cut off public access to people to go to the island. There have though, been ghost hunter crews who have been able to get their way onto the island for a night.

O2 Nightclub Investigation

 On October 29^th 2013, The Greater Moncton Paranormal Society got the privilege of investigating the O2 nightclub in downtown Moncton. Many stories have stemmed from this club, including shadows, and mysterious ghostly cats. There is even a story that a medium was brought into the basement section of the club, but she said there were too many spirits speaking to her, and she would not return. We were told by the owner of the club, that the building was once the first courthouse in Moncton, along with being the first building with jail holding cells in it. It was also once a bank. So the building holds much history. When we got a researcher on our team to dig some more, this is actually what they found:

“Originally designed to be the first department store in Moncton with an open conceit, containing the first electric passenger elevator in the area. During the 30's and 70's it was used for government offices. The store was once the pride and joy of Monctonians, the place where people from all over town and its suburbs gathered on Saturday nights to shop and socialize. Peter McSweeney sold the building in 1932, when it became property of Moncton Electric and Gas Company to be used as a showroom, general offices and storeroom. Sold again in 1959 to Moncton Utility Gas.”

Unfortunately, and strangely, when they dug deeper, they actually did not find any evidence to say for sure that the building was once a jail. So at this point for us it is only speculation.

Now, all seriousness aside, this one was personally a hard investigation for me. Number one, it was a Tuesday, which meant I had to be out fairly late at night, then get up at 7am the next morning for work. Secondly, we had also set up on the same day to do some work with Global News. Which was fun! But also very tiring as we worked with them for around 3-4 hours to make a two minute segment. Haha. And on TOP of all that, I did the entire night with a painful tooth infection, which by the end of the night I had actually developed a mild fever from. I had to leave a few minutes early, once we packed up, I was just too sick to stay to discuss the night with the owner, which sucked! We had used a spirit box that night to try to see what we could get on it, and unfortunately although we did hear a few things that sounded like possible responses, we didn't get anything concrete. We also had quite a bit of debunking to do with this case. This was the very first case that we used our “new to us” DVR system, so we were able to watch/record multiple areas at one time, as opposed to only having hand held video cameras at one time, and they are also built to record in dark areas. Which was awesome!

So as far as evidence goes, here's what we had to work with after reviewing everything:

First off, this is a video of one of our investigators (Dwayne Manaigre)opening the elevator from the basement, now when he walks away you will notice an anomaly come up from the right hand bottom corner and move off screen. Is it interesting? Yes. Now, once we reviewed this, I had asked the team if anyone had maybe noticed if there were any flies or bugs flying around at all, because the anomaly is a little bright to be your regular “dust orb”. Everyone had said not that they had noticed, and at this time, it was the end of October. So it's fairly cold. Does that mean it's not a bug? Not at all. It most certainly could be a bug. But, we don't have the means to really tell whether or not that it is. (NOTE: There is an option on the videos in the bottom right hand corners to make the videos full screen for better viewing.)

Next, we had something called a “trigger object” on one of the tables. Usually that's an object that we may use to try and trigger some activity. This time we had brought a key from the time era that some of the most history of the building is from. Now, even though the key didn't spark up any amazing activity, we soon realized that maybe the key did in fact hold onto some kind of energy. We had a K2 meter set next to the key on a table, and at times the K2 meter would have a faint reading near the key.  

In this video,we are once again in the elevator hallway. Our investigator Dwayne walks to the left side of the screen. When he does, the right side of the screen dims in lighting, sharpens in image, then you see the camera flash and the screen goes back to normal. None of the other cameras, this one included, do this effect at all during the night when we take pictures. So I am confident that it was not the camera flash that caused it. I'm really not sure what did.

This video is a perfect example of a "dust orb" (Which a lot of people still manage to get worked up about somehow.) As you can see, it does not have it's own flight path, nor does it let off it's own light. Also, you can notice it's almost completely transparent. 

This picture is of the bar area to the right when you come down the stairs. Now what you're seeing is the original photograph. And the thing standing in the light in the kitchen doorway is what caught our attention. To us it looked like a person standing in the doorway! This next photograph is what we used to compare the photo to another photo which shows the area lit up. 

Now I hate to admit it, but it actually took us a while to figure out,and we FINALLY after MUCH debate, figured out it was a camera tripod Global had set up. Theirs are taller and bigger than ours, which is why it showed up so much over the bar area.

Rebecca's Grave Video!

As most of you know, GMPS did their first outdoor investigation at Rebecca’s Grave on September 29^th 2013. Rebecca’s Grave is located in Moncton, New Brunswick, and is highly known in the area. We have made a public video for a view into our investigation. But before I get into that, I would first like to thank our over 700 members on our Facebook page, especially the ones who interact with our posts and give their inputs and opinions. And also the people who have so far helped me get almost 1500 pageviews!
Now, an outdoor investigation is a little harder than an indoor one. With an indoor investigation you can control the environment you are working in better than outside. When you are outside, there are a number of things that can contaminate evidence. Animals, wind, cars, etc. Especially at a place like Rebecca’s Grave, that is literally only a few feet from a fairly busy road. We also had a few different people stop and check out what we were doing, including a member of the family of the man who owns the land, to warn us to “be careful” (creepy!!)
I apologize for the delay to get the video out, but as we all know, life happens. For me life happens on top of working 6 days a week! So time can be hard to come by some days. But I immensely appreciate all of you who have waited so patiently! This video is a good outlook for the viewer to see the things we may(or may not) see or experience while on an investigation. So without further delay...

  GMPS PRESENTS: Rebecca's Grave

Near the first of October, GMPS did our first outdoor investigation at Rebecca’s Grave in Moncton. It is a well talked about spot in Moncton, almost everyone here who I tell them what I do says “Oh! Did you ever hear of Rebecca’s Grave? And have you been there?” The first time I did go down there was just out of the blue, a few of us on the team were having a small meeting when we decided, ah what the hell, let’s go down and check it out. So we went down, and to me it looked like nothing out of the ordinary, just a cement slab in the ground, with a little fence around it. At this point I hadn’t heard all the stories surrounding it, so it didn’t seem overly interesting.

For those of you who don’t know the story, it is said back in.. 1876 I believe, A girl named Rebecca Lutz was executed for being accused of being a witch. Her mother, Jane Lutz, was also reportedly killed with her for such accusations. It is said that they were buried in this spot together, face down, so if they were in fact witches and woke up and tried to dig themselves out, they would actually be digging themselves downwards. It is also said when she was killed, Rebecca’s mother put a curse out so those who killed her would suffer worse than she did. People have reported seeing black cats sitting on the grave, and others have reported seeing people in old dress walking along that road. Along with a few other odd happenings. There is a spot on the cement slab where you can tell there used to be marble headstones there that are now broken off. We even had a person stop while we were setting up to investigate and tell us “Be careful”. His family owns the land and he said he’s had some strange things happen that he wasn’t even comfortable telling us about.
So to see if the stories are true, we gathered up our team and our equipment and headed out. We went early in the evening so we still had daylight to scope out the area before we began. And to record some footage while we still had daylight. We also went down the road a bit and checked out and old abandoned church, unfortunately we couldn’t get in because it was boarded up, but it killed some time. We then smudged ourselves with sage for a bit of protection. While we were still waiting for it to get dark, me and a couple others on the team headed back into town to get some gas and a snack, while the rest stayed behind to check out the path that heads to a field and some woods where the homestead used to be. When we came back they were already headed back towards the cars, saying they had already seen some strange stuff. Alvin, an investigator on our team, told us they were down by the field when he had heard a kind of swooshing sound, and when he looked, it looked like a person or something was standing there swinging their arms, and the trees were even moving like they were being forced. It was too far away for him to get a clear view though, so he just took a few shots with his camera. In the pictures you can see the comparison, one being nothing is there, and a second photo of the same spot shows something that wasn’t in the first picture in the woods.

Now that’s the story everyone wants to believe, because it’s a lot more exciting than the more logical story of Rebecca had gotten tuberculosis and perished, with her mother following the same fate not long after. If you think about it though, just in my opinion, that’s a great cover up story for actually killing two women who were accused of being witches. We all know witch executions have happened in history, but, around 1876 they were long past the time when that was widely acceptable. 

We then started investigating, Some of us started on the grave itself, while others went down the path. I'm not going to indulge fully on what happened that night, because we are in the process of putting the footage together into a video you can watch! It was a slightly eventful night, in the sense of many people stopping or slowing down to check out what we were doing, and we were fortunate enough to see Venus out that night in the sky, and even the odd animal creeping around!

This shot was the only weird picture we really couldn't explain during the investigation. There was barely any wind, no one was smoking, and this was not seen with our eyes.

Albert County Evidence Reveal!

So, As you all know, from reading my last posts (Which I hope you did to stay caught up!)  :) , We recently did an investigation at The Albert County Museum in New Brunswick. It was a very exciting night, that got even more exciting after we went home and started reviewing our tapes! This is what we caught:

These first three pictures, were taken upstairs in the Gaol. The first image was taken without flash, appearing normal. Then the second photo was taken, with flash, with a black "shadow" showing up in the corner. Once the photo was presented to the rest of the group, we thought MAYBE by accident the persons finger could have just been over the flash. BUT the third picture down was taken with a finger intentionally over the flash, not creating the same effect at all. We could not re-create the "shadow" that appeared in the second photo. 

These two photos were taken outside the Gaol at Tom Collins' grave. In the first picture, a grainy mist appears, although no one had seen it with their eyes, and the second photo shown was taken literally seconds after the first, and there is no mist. I would like to note no one was smoking at the time. 

These were taken in the "Debtors Cell". In the first one, another "shadow" appears, and almost seems to resemble the shape of someone sitting there on the bench. The second photo was taken within a minute after the first (We always take multiple photo's for comparison.) and no shadow appears. 

This one was taken in the middle cell, where it was known as Solitary Confinement, or Death Row. In the first photo yet another shadow appears, while in the second comparison photo there is nothing. 

This was an EVP recorded outside the gaol where Tom Collins was hung. There is talk amongst the crew but you will hear another voice, almost politely greeting itself. 

This video was taken upstairs in the Gaol. Near the end you will see in the bottom right a light anomoly move from left to right briskly.

These next three videos, are of the flashlight going on and off as asked in the center cell. The first video shows from camera flashes that there is no one near the flashlight, it is sitting on its own. Gives me chills every time I watch them!

This video is of a light anomoly seemingly going around a team members leg.

This is a video of a team member holding the pendulum we were using, and in the video it appears to be glowing.

EVP taken in the courthouse, in between talking you hear what's almost like a heavy outward breath.

EVP taken upstairs in gaol, when we listened to it, none of us could figure out exactly what the noise could have been, but a team member suggests it sounds like a loud sob almost. It was not heard by investigators at the time.

And LASTLY, This EVP was taken out back of the gaol again, where Tom Collins was hung. After the investigator asks "were you the puff of smoke that was in front of me earlier?" ...I heard what sounded like a quick little "yep". 

As you can clearly see, we definitely did not walk away from this investigation empty handed! I know for myself, it was an amazing learning experience. I am so honored to be with such an amazing and dedicated and hard working team.
